A vibrant new addition has joined Orangeville’s small business community with the grand opening of Swell Ink Tattoo Studio, a home-based tattoo and piercing shop owned and operated by local artist and veteran Brittney Richards.
The Emery County Business Chamber (ECBC), joined by Miss Emery County Royalty, welcomed the new studio with a ribbon-cutting ceremony that marked the beginning of Richards’ creative venture. Swell Ink specializes in custom tattoo work, with Richards focusing on landscape, tribal, and Celtic designs. In addition to her tattoo services, she offers facial and ear piercings above the collarbone, including nose, eyebrow, lip, and other ear placements.
Richards, who previously worked a government job and continues to serve her community as an EMT, said the decision to open Swell Ink stemmed from a desire to pursue a career that brings her joy and allows for artistic expression.
“I love having an outlet for creativity,” said Richards. “Custom pieces are especially exciting—bringing someone’s vision to life is incredibly fulfilling. Pick something that reflects who you are. Just be you.”
Swell Ink is located at 140 W. Center Street in Orangeville and operates by appointment only. To schedule a session, customers can contact Richards directly at (435) 287-6491 or send a message via Facebook at Britt at Swell Ink. Pricing is determined by the size and complexity of each piece.
To celebrate the opening, fellow veteran and local business owner Thomas Scott of Gettin’ Our Smoke On offered complimentary pulled pork and mac and cheese to the first 100 visitors. The event underscored the spirit of camaraderie and mutual support among local entrepreneurs.
The ECBC extended its congratulations to Richards, encouraging residents to support small businesses and embrace the unique talents they bring to the community.
“Swell Ink is not just a new business—it’s a reflection of the passion and resilience that define Emery County,” said an ECBC spokesperson.
