A hitman who shot and killed a beauty queen in Brazil has been apprehended after police identified him through a chilling tattoo depicting the victim’s burned face. The suspect, whose name has not been released by local media in Altonia, Parana, Brazil, was arrested on June 7 after seven years of being on the run.
The victim, 21-year-old Bruna Zucco Segatin, was found shot dead alongside her 30-year-old boyfriend Valdir de Brito Feitosa in the back of a burned-out pick-up truck in 2018. While Feitosa was the intended target, Segatin, a former beauty queen, was tragically killed alongside him. Bruna’s face had been grotesquely disfigured by the flames.
Police believe the killing was tied to local drug and contraband trafficking rivalries, and they managed to link the crime to the suspect after identifying a gruesome tattoo on his left arm. The tattoo depicted a woman’s head engulfed in flames, a grim reminder of Bruna’s execution.
The police chief, Reginaldo Caetano, confirmed the connection: “The tattoo on the suspect depicts a woman with part of her face on fire. Bruna’s body was located burned and charred in the back of a pick-up truck.”
Further investigations led to the arrest of A.D.S., a 39-year-old alleged trafficking boss, along with two other suspects earlier this month. The case highlights the chilling ways criminals mark their crimes and the lengths law enforcement must go to solve such brutal murders.
