Stephanie McMahon recently shared a surprising story about a tattoo she nearly got—one that would have permanently displayed her loyalty to WWE.
Speaking on her What’s Your Story? podcast alongside guest Dominik Mysterio, McMahon revealed she once considered getting the old WWE logo tattooed on her body. Ultimately, she decided against it, narrowly avoiding what might have become one of the most infamous tattoos in wrestling history.
The revelation drew comparisons to Cody Rhodes, who made headlines when he debuted his bold “American Nightmare” logo tattoo on his neck—an ink choice that became instantly recognizable among wrestling fans. Had McMahon gone through with her plan, she may have set the trend years earlier for eye-catching wrestling-themed body art.
The Story Behind the WWE Logo
The WWE logo itself has a storied history. In 2002, the organization was forced to rebrand after losing a legal battle with the World Wildlife Fund in the United Kingdom. As a result, the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) dropped the “F” and adopted the now-iconic “scratch” WWE logo.
This updated design formed the foundation of the stylized double-W logo that the company continues to use today.
While McMahon ultimately avoided the tattoo, her anecdote adds another layer to the history of WWE branding—and highlights just how deep her connection to the company truly runs.
