What began as a skin positivity movement—transforming blemish patches into whimsical fashion statements like stars, butterflies, and hearts—has evolved into a broader celebration of temporary self-expression. Today, ephemeral tattoos are at the heart of viral beauty looks on TikTok, often paired with graphic eyeliner and face stickers for a bold yet fleeting aesthetic.
Leading the trend is Fazit, a brand that captured attention during Coachella 2024. Co-founder Aliett Buttelman revealed that their glittery temporary tattoos sold over 100,000 units in a matter of days, amassing 10 million TikTok views. Their success formula? Cheerful designs, easy application, and nostalgic nods to the early 2000s. Pop icon Taylor Swift even sported Fazit’s tattoos at a Kansas City Chiefs game, triggering a 3,500% spike in sales within 24 hours.
Fazit has since expanded its presence with collaborations with Urban Outfitters, themed “game day” patches, and designs for collarbones and shoulders. The brand also plans to introduce tattoos inspired by red-carpet beauty looks.
Realism Meets Reversibility
While Fazit leans into bold and glittery designs, Inked by Dani offers a different aesthetic. Founded by artist Danielle Egna, the brand is known for its ultra-realistic motifs such as fine-line stars, crescent moons, and minimalist calligraphy. Inked by Dani has partnered with major entertainment platforms like Netflix and Paramount and is gaining traction in mainstream U.S. retail stores.
