A former barbershop on Shanklin High Street is set to be transformed into a tattoo studio, following the approval of a planning application submitted by local resident Duane Sibbick.
The premises at 52B High Street, previously occupied by Cassanova Barbers, will undergo a change of use to accommodate the new business. According to the submitted plans, the interior layout of the new studio will feature a single room divided into a treatment area and a waiting area. No structural alterations to the building are planned.
In a Heritage Statement accompanying the application, Mr. Sibbick noted that the proposed tattoo studio would not involve any external modifications and would have no adverse impact on the Shanklin Conservation Area.
While planning permission has been granted, a full report from the Isle of Wight Council’s planning department has yet to be published, detailing the reasoning behind the decision.
