New Zealand design brand Resident has unveiled its most extensive product launch to date at this year’s 3 Days of Design festival, held from June 18 to 20, 2025, in Copenhagen. The release features seven distinct furniture and lighting collections, marking the brand’s largest simultaneous debut since its founding in 2011.
The new offerings result from collaborations with internationally acclaimed designers including Note Design Studio, ASCA, Tim Rundle, Jamie McLellan, Daniel Schofield, and Michael Young. These collections are showcased in an immersive installation titled Viewpoint, inspired by the tonal palette of New Zealand’s diverse landscapes. The exhibition space, designed alongside Note Design Studio, is located at Borgergade 17D in the Danish capital.
Highlights from Resident’s New Collections
Plane Lounge Chair by Jamie McLellan
Renowned New Zealand designer Jamie McLellan presents the Plane Lounge Chair, a solid oak piece characterized by sophisticated internal joinery supporting its cantilevered seat. Weighing 28 kilograms, the chair features a geometric, block-like form meticulously balanced for both aesthetic appeal and durability. Resident describes the chair as “a striking combination of form and function, designed to stand the test of time, and built to be passed down through generations.”
Little Fellas by Jamie McLellan
Also designed by McLellan, the Little Fellas collection consists of three compact solid oak side tables and a coat stand. Each item embraces simplicity, combining direct functionality with sculptural qualities. Featuring flack-pack assembly, exposed joinery, and timber materiality, the pieces are “uncomplicated, well-built, and full of character,” according to Resident. They are designed to seamlessly integrate whether displayed individually or as a group.
Radio Chair by Tim Rundle
Industrial designer Tim Rundle’s Radio Chair is crafted with a strong yet lightweight frame, making it versatile for both residential and high-traffic public spaces. Available in black stain or natural lacquer as standard, the chair can be customized with alternative colors and upholstery fabrics. Resident notes that the chair’s slightly generous proportions are “fine-tuned for everyday use, from long dinners at home to busy hospitality environments.”
