Shin Ji, a member of the long-running K-pop group Koyote, is speaking out against criticism following her recent decision to undergo eyelid surgery and get her first tattoo.
On May 18, Shin Ji took to social media to share screenshots of negative comments she received online. Alongside the image, she wrote, “What a sight! It’s my life and my choice, so why do they act like that? Really?”
The comments included harsh remarks such as: “Why get a tattoo now when you didn’t do it when you were younger?” and “Twenty years of deliberation gone to waste.” Another read, “Oh, just erase it and redraw with a pen—what even is that?”
Earlier, Shin Ji openly acknowledged her recent eyelid surgery, stating, “I don’t care. Everyone can tell, so I’ll just admit it. I had a little remodeling done on my eyes. Once the swelling goes down, it will look pretty much the same as before—so no saying ‘it looked better before!’”
The singer also revealed that she had gotten a tattoo on her arm that reads “Shin ji daeng,” a nickname. “I didn’t feel any pain at all,” she said. “I took my time—20 years to be exact—so don’t worry.”
Shin Ji’s candid response has earned support from fans who admire her confidence and transparency, as the star reclaims her image and personal choices amid scrutiny.
