Punjab Exempts New Vehicles from Emission Testing, Green Sticker Program Continues

The Punjab government has announced an exemption from emission testing for vehicles up to three years old, following directives from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. According to a statement issued by the Environment Protection and Climate Change Department on social media, owners of new vehicles or cars up to three years old are no longer required to obtain an emission testing certificate.

This move aims to provide relief to vehicle owners while continuing efforts to monitor and control vehicular pollution in the province.

Emission Testing Booths to Reopen After Eid

The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) has confirmed that emission testing booths will resume operations across Lahore starting Wednesday, June 11, following the Eidul Azha holidays. Services will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at designated locations throughout the city.

Expanded Emission Testing Facilities Across Lahore

To improve accessibility and reduce waiting times, the EPA has increased the number of emission testing booths in Lahore from eight to sixty. These booths are strategically placed at key points in the city to facilitate easier and faster testing for vehicle owners.

Green Sticker Certification

Upon successful completion of the emission test, vehicles will receive a green sticker on their windscreen. This sticker signifies that the vehicle meets environmental standards and does not contribute significantly to pollution.
