Reuben Owen, son of Amanda and Clive Owen of Our Yorkshire Farm fame, has unveiled his first tattoo — and it’s a nod to his rural roots. The 21-year-old revealed the new ink, a black outline of a Zetor tractor, on the latest episode of his Channel 5 spin-off series Reuben: Life in the Dales.
The tattoo, prominently placed on his upper right arm, was first shown during a candid moment in the season premiere, which aired Tuesday, May 20. During a break from work, Reuben and his friend Capper shared the story behind their spontaneous decision to get inked during a recent trip to Blackpool.
“We got tattooed, didn’t we? I don’t know whose is worse,” Reuben told their friend Sonny. Capper chimed in, describing their choices as “silly decisions” while revealing his own colorful tattoo — a goose with a beer hat, which he named Jemima. “I don’t remember getting this,” Capper admitted with a laugh.
Reuben then rolled up his sleeve to display his tractor tattoo. “All I got was a Zetor tractor, right, tattooed on my shoulder,” he said. Capper added that two other friends had also gotten the same tractor design, but had chosen more discreet placements on their legs. “They were smart,” he joked. “You can’t really get away with it [on the arm].”
With his signature dry humor, Reuben quipped that the tractor could be just the beginning. “I thought next year I could have a low-loader put on it, then a digger, and then I’ll have a full fleet by the time I’m 25. Get a crusher!”
The new season of Life in the Dales follows Reuben in his third year of running his farm machinery business while continuing his passion for restoring vintage tractors. He’s joined in the series by his younger brothers, Miles, 18, and Sidney, 12, along with their parents Amanda and Clive Owen, and Reuben’s girlfriend, Jessica Ellwood.
In one scene, brotherly banter was in full force as Miles asked why he had been chosen to help with a technical digger job. “Because you’re the only one here related to me, and that means I’m allowed to shout at you,” Reuben replied, laughing.
