Aldi Cuts Prices on Hundreds of Items to Ease ‘Sticker Shock’ for Shoppers

by Jessica

Discount grocer Aldi announced it is lowering prices on more than 400 products across its 2,400 U.S. stores to help consumers combat rising grocery costs this summer. The company expects to save shoppers over $100 million through these reductions by Labor Day.

Starting immediately, about 25% of Aldi’s offerings—including grilling meats, organic produce, pantry staples, and popular seasonal items—will be available at reduced prices.

“Our customers count on Aldi for the lowest prices of any national grocer, every day, and we never take that trust for granted,” said Aldi CEO Jason Hart. “While customers may see higher prices at other retailers, we’re working hard to unlock even more value for our shoppers, just in time for summer holidays and gatherings where food takes center stage.”

The price cuts come amid predictions from the Department of Agriculture that grocery prices will rise by at least 3.3% this year. Concerns over tariffs and shifting trade policies have also contributed to fears of escalating food costs.

Scott Patton, Aldi’s chief commercial officer, emphasized the company’s long-standing commitment to affordability: “Value isn’t a trend at Aldi. It’s been in our DNA since we opened our first store nearly 50 years ago.”

Aldi is also pursuing aggressive expansion, with plans announced in February to open over 225 new U.S. stores in 2025, targeting 800 new locations by 2028. Currently, the retailer operates more than 2,500 stores nationwide.
