Kelly Clarkson Shows Off Tattoos in Chic Waist-Cinching Dress

by Jessica

Kelly Clarkson has been serving up some serious style in New York City this summer, looking both fashionable and effortlessly cool. The Kelly Clarkson Show host has been spotted wearing some striking outfits recently, and one standout moment was during Wednesday’s show, where she donned a classic black dress (LBD) that cinched at the waist, emphasizing her slim silhouette.

Teaming her dress with a pair of leopard-print heels, Kelly embraced her “wild” side, adding a pop of personality to the ensemble. As she posed for photos ahead of the show, alongside guests Sydney Sweeney and Luna Blaise, fans got a closer look at some of her tattoos. In particular, her flower tattoo on her ankle was visible, a subtle but beautiful piece of ink.

Kelly’s Impressive Tattoo Collection

Kelly Clarkson is no stranger to tattoos, and over the years, she’s amassed an impressive collection. With 14 tattoos to date, each one tells a personal story. Some of her pieces include a heart on her wrist, a four-leaf clover heart on the back of her hand, a puzzle piece on her shoulder blade, a kite on her wrist, and a moon behind her ear. She also sports a cross on her wrist, writing on her foot, and ‘dc’ on her finger.

Kelly has explained that many of her tattoos hold deep, personal meaning related to her life experiences. “They’re not all struggles, but a lot of them are,” she shared. “I am such a forgiving human… I’m forgiving and loyal to a fault. I forget what happens. And then you just keep letting — you allow the same thing to repeat. So, a lot of mine are like, ‘Don’t do it.'”

The First Tattoo and Family Bond

Kelly’s first tattoo was inked during her time in Buffalo, New York, while on tour. She recalls feeling a bit nervous about the decision, knowing her mom’s strong views about tattoos. “I was on tour, and I was like, ‘My mom’s gonna kill me.’ My body is a temple still, Mom.”

To her surprise, her mother eventually came around and even decided to get a tattoo of her own, connecting with Kelly and her sister’s tattoos. Kelly explained to BBC Radio 1: “My sister has a star [tattoo], and I have the moon, and my mom has a sun with a star and a moon in it.” She also shared that her mom, a Southern Baptist, was initially against tattoos, believing “your body is a temple.” However, in the end, her mom enjoyed the connection it created with her daughters.

A New Chapter in NYC and Tattoo Possibilities

Now living in New York City since 2023, Kelly has embraced a new chapter in her life after relocating from Los Angeles, where she lived with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock until their separation. Despite her busy schedule, Kelly seems to be settling in well, and her new NYC home could serve as a perfect backdrop for expanding her tattoo collection in the future.

When she’s not in the city, Kelly enjoys spending time in Montana, which she has described as her “happy place.” Whether she decides to add more ink to her collection or not, it’s clear that Kelly’s tattoos will always be an essential part of her personal journey.

From embracing her wild side with bold fashion choices to honoring her family and life experiences with meaningful tattoos, Kelly Clarkson continues to inspire with both her style and the stories behind her ink.
