Pop star Miley Cyrus has debuted a new tattoo just one day after revealing she regrets many of her previous ones.
Celebrity tattoo artist Michelle Santana, who works at the renowned Bang Bang Tattoo studio in New York City, shared a photo of her latest work on Cyrus via Instagram on Monday. The tattoo, located on the singer’s upper back just below her right shoulder, reads “Muse” in simple lettering.
The unveiling comes shortly after Cyrus, 31, admitted in an interview with The New York Times that she regrets the majority of her more than 50 tattoos. “I never wanted to look like anything other than myself,” she said, reflecting on how her perspective on body art has changed with age.
Despite her reservations, the singer appears to continue embracing meaningful new ink.
The former Hannah Montana star has also made headlines recently for reconciling with her father, country music icon Billy Ray Cyrus, following a years-long estrangement. In the same interview, she spoke about redefining her relationships with her parents as she matures.
“As I’ve gotten older, I’m respecting my parents as individuals instead of as parents,” Cyrus told the outlet. “Now that my mom is so in love with my stepdad, who I completely adore, and now that my dad, I see him finding happiness too — I can love them both as individuals instead of as a parental pairing.”
Cyrus continues to balance her music career, public persona, and personal evolution, using both ink and introspection to express her growth.
