The Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s School of Design (PolyU Design) is hosting its annual PolyU Design Show 2025 from June 6 to August 8. The exhibition features over 250 innovative projects developed by undergraduate and master’s students, many of which harness technology to tackle pressing issues related to community, environment, culture, and business in today’s changing world.
The show’s opening ceremony brought together government officials, industry leaders, alumni, academics, and innovators. Professor Kun-pyo Lee, Dean of PolyU Design, emphasized the interdisciplinary nature of this year’s work:
“Our students are breaking traditional boundaries by integrating product design with healthcare, industrial design with urban planning, and exploring AI ethics through communication design. These projects balance commercial viability with social responsibility, providing creative solutions to critical global challenges.”
Steve Leung, Chairman of the School’s Advisory Committee and internationally acclaimed architect and designer, added:
“Design shapes how we live, work, and connect. Today more than ever, visionary designers who anticipate and solve complex problems are essential to creating impactful, human-centred solutions. Our students are pioneers shaping the future.”
The show’s visual theme, “Zero Anew – Journey Unfolds,” was crafted by a multidisciplinary group of graduating students. It symbolizes design as a continual process of renewal—distilling experience, refining vision, and exploring new creative territories. This theme is reflected across all exhibits, which include bachelor students’ capstone projects, master’s advanced research, and foundation-year design explorations.
