Travis Hunter and his wife, Leanna Lenee, are once again the focus of social media scrutiny following their recent wedding—this time due to a tattoo spotted on Lenee’s ring finger.
Fans of the NFL prospect took to X (formerly Twitter) after noticing what appears to be a dollar sign (“$”) tattoo on Lenee’s left ring finger. The tattoo, visible in several images circulating online, including one where Lenee is seen hugging Hunter from behind, has sparked a wave of criticism and speculation about her intentions.
“Look at her ring finger,” one user captioned the viral image. Many in the comments interpreted the tattoo as a symbol of materialism. “Can’t say there weren’t signs,” one user remarked. Others were harsher, calling it a “million dollar mistake” and suggesting Hunter had ignored public warnings.
Despite the online criticism, neither Hunter nor Lenee has publicly addressed the tattoo or the backlash. The couple married on May 24 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, following an engagement earlier this year. The two have been together since Hunter’s high school days in Georgia.
The controversy comes on the heels of another viral moment from their wedding, in which Lenee appeared to dodge a kiss during their first dance—an incident that also sparked online discussion about the couple’s relationship dynamic.
However, the couple has received public support from former NFL quarterback Cam Newton. Speaking on a recent episode of his podcast 4th & 1 With Cam Newton, the former MVP defended Lenee against the online trolling.
“Congratulations to the Hunters. You know his wife, LL Cool J—she cool,” Newton said. “She has been a punching bag, and it’s unfortunate. But guess what, baby, who’s laughing now?”
Praising Hunter, Newton added, “This young man has done everything asked and then some. I’m so happy for him.”
While debate continues online, the newlyweds have yet to publicly comment on the attention surrounding their wedding or Lenee’s tattoo.
