A new chapter has unfolded in the ongoing drama between rappers Young Thug and Gunna, as fans noticed a significant change in Gunna’s appearance—his prominent YSL tattoo appears to have been covered up.
A shirtless photo of Gunna working out surfaced online, quickly sparking conversation. Observant fans pointed out that the YSL logo, once visible on his left bicep, now seems to be concealed by new flame-themed ink. The image went viral, drawing widespread speculation about a potential rift between the two Atlanta rappers.
The photo eventually reached Young Thug, who responded with subtle shade. Sources close to the YSL founder suggest he referenced Gunna’s controversial 2022 Alford plea deal in his reaction. As part of the deal, Gunna pleaded guilty to a racketeering charge and acknowledged YSL as both a music label and a criminal gang.
“I recognize, acknowledge and deeply regret that my talent and music indirectly furthered YSL the gang to the detriment of my community,” Gunna said in a written statement read aloud in court. “YSL as a gang must end.”
While Gunna’s legal team has maintained that he did not cooperate with authorities to incriminate Young Thug or other YSL members, public perception has remained divided. Gunna received a five-year suspended sentence and was released due to time served.
Young Thug, meanwhile, spent over two years behind bars before reaching a plea deal of his own on October 31, 2024, bringing one of Georgia’s longest-running RICO trials to a close.
The distance between the two artists has grown increasingly apparent. During a recent GQ interview, when asked directly about his relationship with Gunna, Thug offered a cryptic response: “I know everybody wondering that… I don’t know.”
Further fueling speculation, fans noticed in April that Gunna’s presence had been entirely scrubbed from the official YSL Records Instagram account.
Whether the situation will be addressed directly remains to be seen, but speculation is mounting that Thug could speak on it in his upcoming album UY SCUTI, slated for release in June. For now, what was once one of Atlanta’s strongest musical alliances appears more fractured than ever.
