David Blaine Reveals He Got an Invisible Tattoo — and Forgot About It

by Jessica

David Blaine is known for his daring and innovative magic tricks, but his latest revelation has left fans both amazed and amused. In an interview with PEOPLE for its “One Last Thing” page in this week’s issue, the 52-year-old magician admitted that he had a tattoo done in invisible ink – and completely forgot about it.

Blaine explained that the tattoo was created by renowned New York City tattoo artist Bang Bang and features a playing card prediction. “I did one with disappearing ink… and I haven’t used it yet. As a matter of fact, I even forgot that I did it because it’s invisible,” he shared. The tattoo, which can only be seen under a specific light, is hidden in plain sight. “You just reminded me that I have this tattoo on my left wrist because it’s invisible. So, I have an invisible tattoo that I didn’t even remember until you just told me,” Blaine added.

In addition to this magical ink surprise, Blaine shared a few more personal moments with PEOPLE.

When asked about his last time singing aloud, Blaine recalled an amusing moment during one of his performances: “I sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to somebody onstage in my show, but I’m a terrible singer. I was very apologetic afterward.” He also mentioned how he enjoys singing Dolly Parton songs like “Jolene” to make his 14-year-old daughter, Dessa, laugh.

Despite his dairy allergy, Blaine indulges in his favorite cheese when in Paris. “I live half of the year in Paris, so I’m always eating my favorite cheese. But then I’m always sneezing and itching my eyes afterward,” he revealed.

As for self-care, Blaine described his unusual sauna routine: “I go to the gym and sit in the sauna for as long as possible. I’ve stayed in there a few hours.” He added that he enjoys telling “really annoying jokes,” like asking if it’s okay to put jalapeños on a salad before throwing water on the sauna coals. “Nobody laughs,” he said with a grin.

The magician also shared his ongoing passion for performing magic. “Last magic trick I did… I was at rehearsal for Jimmy Kimmel and ended up doing magic for the entire staff. And on the airplane here, same thing. I was doing magic for everybody working on the plane and all the people in line for the bathroom. That’s a constant,” Blaine said, adding, “I fall asleep with a deck of cards in my hands and wake up with cards stuck to my face and body almost every day.”

Blaine, who recently extended his Las Vegas residency, is also starring in the new Nat Geo series David Blaine: Do Not Attempt, where his boundary-pushing stunts and unique magic tricks continue to captivate audiences.
