Pegasus Tattoo and Wellness, a unique tattoo and mental health center in Oak Cliff, will celebrate its grand reopening this Sunday, June 8. The event will be held at the studio, located in the vibrant Elmwood neighborhood, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Formerly known as Pegasus Tattoo Studios, the space is a fusion of tattoo artistry and mental health services. Founded by tattoo artist Stephanie Adelina in 2020, the studio is now relaunching with a strong focus on wellness and mental health, aiming to create a safe space for marginalized groups within the tattoo industry.
“We relaunched because there was a clear need for safe, inclusive spaces in the tattoo industry, especially for queer and marginalized communities,” said Adelina. “We’ve always been a queer-friendly hub, and this expansion to wellness was a natural next step.”
Adelina has partnered with Satchel Victory, a pre-licensed mental health professional pursuing licensure as a licensed professional counselor, to offer mental health services alongside tattooing.
The grand opening event will feature a variety of activities. Starting at 2 p.m., attendees can receive Pride- and mental health-themed flash tattoos and hear from local professionals, including representatives from the Resource Center. From 6-9 p.m., there will be live music, food, and beverages available outdoors, in collaboration with The People’s Art Collective. The outdoor event aims to promote local businesses in Downtown Elmwood, with Victory encouraging visitors to explore the neighborhood.
The grand opening isn’t just about showcasing the tattoo and wellness services; it’s about building a community and raising awareness about local mental health resources. Adelina emphasized, “We want Pegasus to be a hub for the community, a place where Oak Cliff and Dallas, particularly marginalized groups, can find the support they need.”
The event is free to attend, but donations will be accepted to fund low-cost mental health services. The grand opening will take place at 1813 Balboa Place and promises to be a meaningful celebration of inclusivity, art, and mental wellness.
