In a rare and personal TikTok video posted on May 18, the She’s the Man star, 39, revealed a new tattoo on her middle finger: a small Roman numeral “X” to commemorate 10 years of friendship with her best friend, Dylan.
“My best friend Dylan and I have been best friends for 10 years,” Bynes shared in the video. “And to mark our best friend anniversary, we got matching Roman numeral Xs for the number 10.” While Amanda chose her finger for the design, Dylan opted for her rib cage.
The video also gave fans a glimpse of Bynes’ latest hair transformation. “I finally grew my bangs out,” she said excitedly. “I’m so excited right now. Oh my god, I can’t believe it.”
Bynes is no stranger to self-expression through tattoos. Since debuting a heart on her cheek in 2019, she’s added several more designs: a butterfly on her chest, a rabbit outline on her ankle, a large rose on her forearm, and most recently, a striking snake on her upper thigh.
“It’s the ‘transformation’ for me,” she wrote in a January TikTok about the thigh tattoo, explaining that snakes symbolize renewal and growth. “A daily reminder that I can heal, grow, and start anew.”
Her evolving ink reflects a personal journey that’s been equally transformative. After stepping away from acting, Bynes earned a degree from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising in 2019 and ended her nine-year conservatorship in 2022.
Now focused on building a stable, creative future, she’s set her sights on a career as a manicurist. “After thinking about it, though, I would rather get my manicurist license and have a consistent job,” she wrote on Instagram Stories in late 2023. “I’m going to follow that path instead. Thank you for following my journey!”
With each tattoo and life decision, Bynes continues to write a new chapter—one of healing, authenticity, and meaningful connections.
